Merchandising Analytics Manager

Shaw Search Partners is proud to lead the retained search to identify a Merchandising Analytics Manager for a renowned national retailer.

The Merchandising Analytics Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing analytics that help merchandising achieve their goals and business objectives. This role collaborates with merchandising to execute the strategies for pricing, promotion, assortment, and vendor management. This role is responsible for the standard set of insights & reporting available for merchandising teams to access and utilize daily. This role is also responsible for coaching and developing direct reports to further advance merchandising knowledge and analytical skillset.

Responsibilities

· Develops, implements, and executes standard set of insights & reporting that merchandising teams will utilize in order achieve business objectives and goals.

· Builds & optimizes reports in a user-friendly manner for merchants to access via Power BI.

· Automates reporting on daily, weekly, and periodic basis depending on timing of merchandising action or decision cadence.

· Provides insights & recommendations to all key merchandising functions (assortment, pricing, promotion, vendor management, etc.). Deliver ad hoc reporting to merchandising team upon request.

· Provides recommendations to merchandising team and executes pricing strategy for regular retails which include adjustments based on cost changes, base retail optimizations, and new item setup.

· Reports on competitive price position index versus competitors and recommends changes to align to company financial objectives and index targets. Provides insights on competitor retail moves and inflation trends in the market. Provides recommended price adjustments to achieve established index targets.

· Manages team hiring/training, performance management, support for upper leadership, driving of efficiency/efficacy/accuracy in workflows, and helps make company a great place to work by developing direct reports, ensuring team KPIs are hit, fostering relationships between departments, finding innovative business solutions, managing projects, deftly handling ambiguity, and overall leadership.

Qualifications

· 6 years+ of experience with a proven ability to lead a team and/or projects for needed results, morale, interdepartmental relationships, and within constraints or amidst ambiguity.

· Demonstrated strong PC skills including working knowledge and proficiency with the primary Microsoft Office applications with a particular emphasis on advanced Excel use (pivot tables, lookup functions, IF/THEN logic, charts, etc.)

· Must be proficient at coding with SQL including subqueries and temp tables

· Adept at story telling using visualization methods through Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar

· Problem solving skills, including problem analysis, decision making, creativity and innovation.

· Proven ability to interpret data and express the implications of analyses.

· Strong interpersonal skills with experience in relationship building and conflict resolution to develop and maintain positive working relationships with peers, management, suppliers, and other company departments.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, or related field

Advanced Degree preferred
